I think I behave in a manner consistent with my self, whether I'm offline or online. The big difference is that LJ seldom requires me to be fulfilling any kind of role. I behave differently when I'm being Mom, differently when I'm be being Productive Worker, differently when I'm being Goofy Friend. But I don't think "different" means duplicitous. I seek to behave appropriately in whatever situation or association, and online associations are compartmentalized from real life in many cases.
