I'm having a great time with my bike. So far, I've taken quite a few rides along the (paved) trails near the new place. It's been very useful, getting used to how the grip-shifting works, figuring out how long it takes me to cover certain distances, getting my balance with hand signals, and stuff like that.

I need to find my tire pump and hope it works. :)

Update: OMG, fun. Found the tire pump and got rolling a bit after work. I don't think I was ever *lost* -- not really -- but there was quite a bit of time when I wasn't 100% sure where I was going, other than "mostly east." I knew I was riding within certain boundaries on well-maintained trails with plenty of safety. Got home 90 minutes later, sweaty and happy and feeling pretty friggin' righteous. So righteous, in fact, that I think I'll eat my Cap'n Crunch (wif crunchberriez) in the tub before bedtime. :)

I had pretty lofty goals of riding to work, but then I realized how terrified I was of crossing streets and signaling turns. Pretty important to get that sort of skill down before attempting a commute...so these have been "training" rides. Thankfully, most of the route between home and work is residential (or at least low-traffic). But I need to reach a point where I can comfortably cover seven miles each way without being absolutely toasted, too. Gettin' there.
