I'm fully aware of the fact that not all omens are Omens, and that sometimes an omen is really a pizza (or at most the pizza you ordered). But yesterday I was trying to be a Seer Paying Attention, too. And here's what I saw:

These seemed much more to be personal omens/lessons, rather than group omens, but they happened to arrange things well for the group. So that's good.

1. Yesterday was the finest example in recent memory of how effective it can be to state what you need and then let go so it can happen...through the power of allowing other people to help. Maybe not so profound a lesson for everyone, but a biggie for me. Gotta remember that.

2. In the search for a place for us all to process to when we went outside, my first two choices got banjaxed. First choice was too muddy. Second choice was overrun by parked cars when attendance exceeded expectations (it was clear and dry, so perhaps a great place for tires not to get mired). The third and final place was marked by a huge rabbit racing at magnificent speed and strength across the field. I'm a person who gets nervous if she doesn't see enough rabbits over a period of time, so as always it was nice to see a bunny sib. I figured it was a positive thing and a blessing on the chosen space to see the bunny there. But the significant point was that it's action. Every other bunny I've seen over the last year or so has been still. Cautious. Waiting. This one was seriously on the move. That's important. It's time for...something...that will require strength and action.

3. I commented to a few of you during the feast yesterday that if I'd been a clever pagan, I would have checked a calendar to see when sunset was expected and plan our schedule accordingly. But I didn't. And I also didn't really check my clock but once during the feast. I just decided to relax, ride the energy of the crowd and let things happen as they would. Sure, I'd wanted it to be really dark for going outside. But at every transition, the energy of the crowd led us. Yup, it's time to clear places and start toasting. Yup, it's time to wrap up the singing now. And what do you know? We got outside in time to see the first star appear. Pretty nifty and a marvelous affirmation.

So there ya go. The world according to me. Nothing too earth-shattering, but worthy lessons nonetheless.

I like it very much and think I got it out of something written by Anne McCaffrey, strangely enough. But you are welcome to comment on the incidental omens if you wish -- that's why they're public, after all. I'm getting pretty proficient at seeing omens and going from A to Z with them, but need to pay more attention to "showing my work" and chronicling them for future reference.
