Feeling sunshine-y.
Feb. 29th, 2008 11:23 amI'd say I'm feeling chipper, but "Chipper" is a nickname for my brother (Chip) and putting it that way just weirds me out.
In other news, the BPAL scent of Nuit is very rich. Too complicated and...er, I think "deep" is the word...for daily wear, but it would go splendidly in one's cleavage for a candlelight dinner. Or, you know, whenever one wants to invite cleavage-sniffing. It's the kind of scent that would linger in a lover's bed, inspiring fond reminiscences.
It had a bit more of something-something than I tend to prefer, so I'm guessing there would be scents I'd like more than this one, but points to
featherynscale for figuring I'd like it. I'd thought "nuit" referred to the French word for night, but no. The title references the Egyptian goddess with a different spelling than I'm used to. Excerpt from BPAL's description:
Her perfume is starry and crystalline, a jewel-clad and glittering paean to night: dazzling white musks, white rose and night-blooming jasmine with the soft moss of moonlit meadows, a waft of Egyptian incense, and a gentle breath of moonflower.
I'm still not sure what it is about Shango that triggers sensory horror in me. I mean, I don't even want to touch the imp to dispose of it, my reaction is that severe. Jeebus.

Date: 2008-02-29 05:38 pm (UTC)I'm glad there were some of them that you liked, though. The other three I gave you were all too 'white' for me. (Go, go gadget synaethesia. I like my perfumes in the brown range, generally.)

Date: 2008-02-29 05:47 pm (UTC)Even if you're not wearing scent, you smell mostly of amber to me, with something caramelly thrown in -- with just a hint of white but night-blooming (gardenia, maybe?).
I love-love-love Rosalind and Urania. Light flowery stuff. I do like the kick of rosemary and grapefruit in a scent sometimes. I like the imp idea, because I think I might encounter a wider variety of scents I like. Thank you again.

Date: 2008-02-29 06:59 pm (UTC)Heh. I have a general policy that what happens in England stays in England, but I think you may find this particular story amusing.
So there was this guy in my department, quite nice and a bit of a goofball, with whom I had been flirting and so on. After I finally gave in to joining Facebook, he sent me a friend request. Since our email addresses were based on initials and we were a first-name department, this was the first time I realized that his full name was...
.

.
Nich Turner.
There were some other very good reasons that things never really took off between the two of us, but the fact that after that realization there was always a little bit of my brain cracking up at the mild surreality of it all sure didn't help :-)

Date: 2008-02-29 08:48 pm (UTC)For what it's worth, D, your scent (in my head) is sort of a light/sharp green with a bit of something yellowish (deep yellow, but not brown at all). There's another note in there with a bit of bite to it -- like rustling leaves. Dunno how to describe it.
I carry the imps around with me (except for Shango), so if I see you anytime soon, I should be able to give you a whiff.

Date: 2008-02-29 09:16 pm (UTC)Anyway, regarding paperwork, what's your schedule for tonight and tomorrow? I might be able to swing by and pick up the stuff for WH, and get it back to you by Sunday, completed.

Date: 2008-02-29 09:19 pm (UTC)Tomorrow, I'm around until about 10 a.m. and then out until almost 1 p.m. The afternoon has a bunch of errand running and haircuts and a sock-a-palooza for the girls.
Do you have my cell phone number?
