Hooray for Mandatory Fun

My department just had an impromptu "creative" meeting, the upshot of which is that we're each bringing home a pumpkin. (Mine is very oblong, but nicely symmetrical.) See, we're supposed to decorate these pumpkins and bring them back tomorrow for a contest and celebratory potluck lunch. Please note that I have very little talent for decorating pumpkins, using a knife to carve anything...and we have almost nothing in the house from which to create a potluck food item.

1. Empty a can of pumpkin mash into a diaper and call it a "life cycle study." Place it next to the pumpkin pie I've brought for the potluck.

2. Introduce Pirate Pumpkin, knife between teeth and all. Bring a bottle of rum for the potluck.

3. Bring Ghost pumpkin, with a white pillowcase over its head. Bring a big bowl cereal (the kind with "spooky marshmallows" in it) for the potluck, along with a pitcher of milk.

Sweet godden, save my overly comptetitive ass.

Don't carve it at all - get some fake eyelashes and makeup, and apply them where they would go if the pumpkin had a face. Maybe some ear-rings stuck in the sides... Label it "Midnight Already?"

You could still bring a bottle of alcohol for this one :)

Midnight Already?

That's great! I could use one shoe...and a bit of taffeta or tulle or something. I was also considering a tribute to Melinda, stuffed bra and all.

And the tiara. It needs a tiara.

What was the end result?

I went with [livejournal.com profile] featherynscale's "What? Midnight Already?" idea. Princess Pumpkin rested in a nest of pink tulle and taffeta, with a blonde wig and a purple maribou and rhinestone tiara, blue eyes with enormous lashes and a set of big red lips. A single shoe and a half-empty bottle of sparkling cider completed the picture.

We came in 3rd in the Electoral College vote (that is, the Creative Department); we'll see how the popular vote goes when we open it up to the company later this afternoon.

Inquiring minds want to know:
