saffronhare: (Kiss My Bunny Ass)
[personal profile] saffronhare
Yesterday, I looked at the box of glass that got picked up after the coffeetable lost a battle against my swiftly descending ass and realized how lucky I was, not to have been injured any worse -- either with the fall itself or with the scramble to get up off the mess.

Stitches feeling some better today. There's enough marginal function in my right hand that I'm able to get some work done here at the office. I'm even managing to sit in a balanced manner on both cheeks. And I get to switch to a less restrictive bandage in another day or so. Yay! (Today, I am Queen of the Silver Lining.)

For the record: [livejournal.com profile] diermuid took me to the ER, but [livejournal.com profile] princessboredom had to put a bandage on her mother's butt. She managed not to literally fall over laughing. That's some heroism right there. :)

Too bad about the events (hurting isn't fun) but glad you guys are able to laugh about it. Knowing the table, I'm surprised you weren't hurt worse. Did you actually land inside the table or just on top and the glass broke?

*HUGS*

OMG! Glad you are okay overall... hoping for no lasting ill-effects.

Yep [profile] diermuid is a hero even if he doesn't remember it.

I fell onto the top of the coffeetable. So the glass shattered under my incredible gravitational powers and I landed in the middle -- feet up in the air, arms akimbo -- with shards all around me. Made a Big Noise, too.

It was most inglorious.

The cut missed tendons and other complicated portions of my finger. No embedded glass, either -- didn't even need an x-ray. As these things go, it was pretty uncomplicated.

I think the living room area rug is a goner. Even after some pretty arduous vacuuming, [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn could still see glass sparkling.

And I'll say it.

I will ALWAYS be happy for extra pillows, but no. I don't think I really NEED them. :)

I suppose I should be offended not to have been more memorable, but he was very gentlemanly about the butt thing. Thanks for getting the carpet outside before anybody else got hurt!

If I'd been really thinking I would have dumped it at work last night. DOH!

Thanks gods you were not damaged. I understand it hurts (and I also see tremendous humor in the future over this)

Seriously, is there anything I can do to assist in the swift healing of your injuries?

I'm feeling no particular need for healing to happen faster or without scarring. Scars are sexy, right?

I think I used up a goodly measure of grace when I avoided more serious damage! It's all elementary first aid now -- keeping things clean and dry, etc.

Thank you!

So does that make you a Monk or a Rogue?

I'm so glad that you came out of it as good as you did! Thinking of what could have happened makes me shudder. Good healing to you!

Thanks. Everyone is really chipping in at the house so I don't have to do quite so much with my right hand, and have an easier time keeping the dressings dry. Yay!

Duct tape. When glass shards get stuck, use duct-tape to de-lint the pile of the carpet. 8-)
