saffronhare: (Because I'm the Mom)

I'm a person who generally tries not to throw antibiotics at everything, but wow. That Augmentin has really done the watusi all over Kira's pneumonia. She is feeling better enough now that I've had to bark at her to please stop bouncing on her bed and go to sleep.

We've got a few days before she's really allowed out of her jammies (let alone out of the house), but the improvement is incredible. It's amazing how being able to breathe will really brighten a little person's demeanor, huh?

Many thanks for the messages offering hugs, help, and useful information. I get pretty insular at times like this, so please don't take it personally if I'm not in touch. Once I get her butt to stay in bed, I bet she'll sleep very well tonight...which will do Fiona a world of good. Poor big sister is really strung out after the last couple nights too. Tomorrow is [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn's day at home. Wish him luck!

Say, if she'll eat yogurt, you might push that. Augmentin is notorious for creating secondary yeast infections, moreso than other antibiotics. I took it once, and my doctor was ready to diagnose me with pelvic inflammatory disease before it was over, and we fought the infection for over six months after that. TMI, I know, but you don't want her getting thrush or something as a lingering complication.

Thanks

I'll second this. Not from personal experience but knowing others who have been on the big A and gotten a yeast infection *and* thrush.

Turns out it was a fungal infection and the Augmentin didn't work anyway but hey. Glad she's feeling better.

Great googly moogly, yes. I can't imagine how awful it would be to manage a yeast infection in a preschooler.

I'll spare you all the nightmare dialogue running through my head right now. Eep.

so behind in lj
