no quite back yet

I've been home for about 20 hours now, but I don't feel quite like I'm back yet. It was grueling and joyous and at was at the same time one of the simplest and most difficult things I've ever accomplished.

The plan was to be all update-y today. Except now, I'm thinking not so much. I'm mostly lazing in bed to keep my feet up, snacking and discarding thoughts about things to do today.

There are pictures to be developed. They're not great pics, but they will all remind me of a story to tell, so that's not all bad.

My body handled it all Just Fine with the exception of a little bit of sunburn from Friday. That's because I forgot to put sunscreen on until lunchtime, since hardly anybody remembers to put sunscreen on when it's still dark, and that's when I was getting dressed. No particular stiffness or muscle injuries at all -- I'm a rock-steady walker, banging out 17-minute miles most of the way through. Where I encountered problems, however, was with my feet. Really awful blisters. Princess Boredom has named one of them "Steve."

More later.

Hiya Steve..I am Shae..

Nice to meet you. Was thinking about you all weekend, sending lots of good vibes and energy to you. So proud of you! Yeah for you! What an amazing thing you have accomplished, my friend. Be well and rest. You definately have earned it. Hugs!!

Supposed to be taking care of your feet, you were. I hope that some part of your experience today is involving soaking them?

Also, well done generally, and glad you are home.

You do not want to see my feet.

Oh, yes. My feet are in charge of today's activities. We had a deal yesterday. I said to my feet, "I really want to finish this walk." And my feet said, in the manner of Diera Bashere, "Very well. We shall speak of this later."

And boy, are they talking. :) Today is very much about the epsom salts and elevation of feet and soft socks and lovely new Crocs (pink, of course). Until about 5 p.m. today, I have walked no farther than the distance between the bedroom and the bathroom.

yahhoooo!

Very, very, very well done! I am glad you are home and have accomplished such a fantastic journey! I am sorry to hear your feet are conducting hostile take-over type negotiations. If they haven't yet, perhaps they will forget. I have found hot whiskey to help foot problems...for soaking and drinking, which works better/faster depends on the rate of consumption.
