I'm so pleased with this weekend, and the labors of love it contained.

If what I remember of our conversation at 3:30 a.m. is correct, then [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn had a splendid time at Dragon*Con. I suppose, if you're going to forget to pack a costume piece, then a sheet is among the easiest of forgotten items to compensate for. Can't wait to hear more stories...you know, now that I'm awake. :) Many thanks to E3 for helping him get there and home in one piece. I'm glad the application of will turned out so well. He was so thrilled with the experience that he's threatening to bring all of us along next time -- me AND the kids! Poor dear, he's clearly still trippin'. :)

Donating 14 inches of hair to Locks of Love was a tremendous experience. I'm so thrilled with my haircut that I had to stop myself from driving around to friends' houses to squee! and twirl and show it off. I'll admit I was worried. See, I hadn't figured on how much of my personal vanity had become wrapped up in The Hair in recent years. In my mythic reality, losing The Hair would return me to the homely and merely acceptable-looking mindset I didn't want to dwell in anymore. (Nevermind how I *actually* look, because that's not the point.) But then I realized: there were so many people who felt similarly, and yet could not count on re-growing their own hair. I figured, hey, the worst that could happen is that I'll hate the haircut and then have to grow it out again. Not so great a risk, that. If I'm good at anything, it's growing hair, yo.

Much love was also bestowed upon the house, though the lawn got none. I really, really hate mowing my lawn. I will work in the garden until my fingers bleed and edge by hand until I can't move, and still be singing with happiness. (sigh) But the lawn? No fecking way. The absolute best argument for xeriscaping, really. However, more carpet has been torn up from the bedroom floor (almost half the surface area is cleared now) and the downstairs hallways have received two coats of polyurethane. Note to self: remember to send in the documentation for those mail-in rebates! I nearly started doing the stairway walls, but I don't think I had enough product to finish the job...and those walls could use a bit of touch-up first.

Also, and. I got the heck out of the house with the kids. We went to and enjoyed the bejeeezus out of the Irish Fest on Saturday. Plus, I took the little princesses to a Labor Day block party with [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn's folks. Lots of friendly people there, with kids and puppies running around, and Barbie cars and tricycles racing across the cul de sac. Plus, there was barbecue from [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn's dad, which was totally worth marrying into the family for. Quite possibly even better than the cinnamon rolls. I shit you not.

There were other things. I'll probably edit to add them as I recall. Overall, a full weekend. I am filled with joy and grateful for the blessings of home and family.

I sort of feel in love with the world today, but it could just be the coffee. :)

Oh, sweetie. Dragon*Con is a conglomeration of all sorts of things guaranteed to make me cry, or kill people, or both. I have references for this. But I thank you kindly for the invitation. :)

Now that *is* a shame. I could totally see you dressing up as Severity, and intimidating/impressing all sorts of people/nerds/cringing folk. Good times, good times.
