transformation of the boonie hat
Or, as
rougewench put it: beading like a Neanderthal. :)
Remember the prayer bead project I was undertaking for the Breast Cancer 3-Day? Well, I discovered a few important things over the most recent long-distance walks.
First: I really, really need to wear a hat to protect my face from the sun. My forehead and nose are peeling today, which is Super Icky. Yes, I wear sunscreen -- but I fail to re-apply it, and it tends to run into my eyes once I start sweating, despite it being the sports formula. Gah.
Second: I will not be able to tolerate any sort of jewelry beyond my sports watch anywhere on my body, which puts the kabosh on the idea of wearing a bracelet or anklet for to carry the prayer beads.
So. Last night, while I watched Princess !Kaboom at gymnastics, I started sewing the prayer beads onto my boonie hat. Now, it's a Boobie Hat! For the sake of
zylch's sponsorship of my hair, I'm also willing to attach other items to the hat at her request. I suppose I could dye or spray parts of it pink, even.
I think they came out darn cute -- they're arranged like little flowers and stuff. Pictures to follow soon, if I can convince
agrnmn to snap some photos...even if he's likely to insist that I wear the hat and allow myself to be photographed in it. Gah.

nbie hats! Do you generally pull your hair back at all while wearing the hat? If so, I might dig up an appropriately atrocious scrunchie or similar. But otherwise, I think I'll just declare that my sponsorship of your hair means that your hairstyle should in no way contribute to sunstroke or discomfort, because those things will mean more work for me...(And look for the six people in dark green bucket hats for Camp Logistics team -- we decided that if we wanted to be able to spot each other from afar, pink hats would be Really Dumb.)

saints preserve us!
I'm talking about the little things that arts & crafts projects use -- the ones that are very cheerful and fluffy, but only about 1" in diameter.
