saffronhareI am one flustered Momma today, but happy. First, Princess !Kaboom has her first day of Kindergarten today. She was All Over It with her morning routine and ready to go on time with her little purple backback and kicky denim skirt. She'd even put a shiny barette in her hair. (It'll be gone before lunch, I'm sure.)
We walked to school -- most days, I'll drive her, but today was Special -- so we could see all the car rider kids being dropped off in the circle drive like we'll start doing, watch how the safety patrol students help little kids get from their cars to the sidewalk safely, see that a teacher/aide was at the door to greet all the students (including her), and confirm that she could find the way to her own classroom. The big transition for me was noticing when she stopped following me and began to lead -- right about when the doors to the school came into view. My baby is leveling up! ::sniff::
There was a bit of a line, with parents bringing kids in the door to the classroom, but she walked right in and started getting her nametag pinned on without even looking at me. I swooped in for a hug and kiss, reminded her that daddy was going to pick her up in the circle drive in the Red Car, and she said I'mfineMommyyoucangonow. Yay! The PTA was very active in the Kindergarten wing, gods bless 'em...they had tables with coffee and doughnuts, disposable cameras, and plenty of Kleenex. :) I <3 this PTA and school.
I scooted on home to let Princess Boredom catch her bus and gather Princess Pretty Ghoul* for delivery to preschool. Whew. Tomorrow should be a bit smoother, since I'll load up the two little ones and just drive to Kindergarten. Much less back-and-forth that way.
*This is the new name she announced she wanted, since she says she's not Sticky anymore. It's really Princess Preschool, but this is how she says it for now. It makes me giggle for more than 15 seconds, but I'm gonna use it anyway.
