saffronhare: (Because I'm the Mom)

Princess Sticky had a great day today. When she put on her jammies after bathtime this evening, she proclaimed that they had stars on them because she is a star! (this statement was made with her arms thrust up in the air, hands in confident little fists). I'm so proud. ::sniff::

The Ever-Victorious Princess took it all in stride -- circle time, puzzles, reading and coloring, potty breaks, journeys to the lunchroom, pretending (which she pronounces "be-tending") to sleep during quiet time, and recess foiled by light rain (pronounced "brinkles").* The teacher reported a moment or two of tears with quick recoveries, which I think were related to the Princessly comment that "some girls are not good at sharing." I was also informed by the Princess that the Barbie Castle "might be stolendend," because she couldn't find it ANYWHERE.

Sometime between now and the end of October, she will be enrolled in Creative Movement. Oh yes...it will be so. :)

A note on Princess !Kaboom: Not content with simply clamoring up the office doorway to reach the chinup bar, she has now started clamoring up many other doorframes in the house, so as to hang and drop from the molding that goes across the top. I'm gonna need to color my hair again soon.

*I am aware that we'll need to work on tidying up her pronunciation of dipthongs, thank you.

Yay! And know you don't. They'll likely clear up on their own. You don't want that kind of tongue dexterity in a kid that age anyway. :-)

Sounds like it isn't so much alveolar or velar as labial. From what I've heard, she's still working out the correct vocal onset time to differentiate the bilabial stops. Considering that the difference between "p" and "b" in English is something like .0015 seconds (IIRC), it's an understandable difficulty. And she's even double-generalizing the past tense rule to irregular verbs now! They grow up so fast...

As for the Dragon, I used to climb doorframes to hang from the molding all the time, and I've survived to adulthood just fine. Pedantic, maybe, but fine.

I climbed doorframes too (and buildings). My feet only crackle occasionally, now...

I was more curious about J using "know" for "no" up there. Drinking already, [livejournal.com profile] fionnabhar?

Whoops.

As a matter of fact, I did put a fairly generous amount of Jameson in my coffee this evening. Does it show? :-)

Oh, and dipthongs are only combinations of vowels that are pronounced together. I'm not aware of a specific name for consonant combinations.

As a matter of fact, I do know what a bilabial stop is and how it differs from a dipthong. It just didn't seem very important to the news of the day to insert such specific references into the conversation.

But I thank you for your reassurances and general interest in child development anyway.

I reckoned as much really, considering your background. The fact that I say something, however, does not necessarily imply that I think it's important :-)

As for the other, I am very much going to miss watching the Princessen grow up over the next year. [That last sentence? That was important, at least to me.]
