Jul. 27th, 2006 11:43 amThat's a direct quote from Princess Böredom there. She's pretty hopped-up on steroids and albuterol, and breathing much better now. She says all she feels is cough now...no crackle in her lungs. Whew.
Thanks to the drugs and the new AC installed up in her room, she slept pretty soundly from about 11 p.m. through the night, despite my Stoopid Parent Trick of coming up every 45 minutes or so to check on her. (shaking head) By the time the sun rose, I was drooling with exhaustion and feeling kind of silly, but very relieved. Many thanks to
agrnmn for letting me catch a nap before work, and to all the folks who volunteered to be on alert. I can't wait to walk/run and be thoroughly bludgeoned at fighter practice tonight -- perhaps that will clear the tweakishness out of my mind enough that I'll be able to sleep through the night tonight myself. For now, I have Pandora playing my Brick House station to keep my ass in gear.
I'd also like to sing hymns of praise to all the coffee beans who gave their lives so that I might be productive and alert today. ::blows mocha-flavored kisses::
As a tangential reference to
chainwoman's post: My bra and panties match today -- they're black microfiber. I've been told it's particularly amusing that a thug chick like me has a thing for matching my bra and panties to my outfit whenever possible. I didn't used to do this; it started when I was All Done with breastfeeding. (shrug) :) Oh. And I had to wear panties, since I have a miniskirt on.
ETA: Listening to Hiding, by Breakestra. My poor hip flexor is melting. :)
Further ETA: Daughter has successfully lobbied her father to go to the park tonight. (sigh) She's been Most Excellent with her meds and taking it easy, and the Ozone Alert has been called off by the weather service. I suppose there are worse things for her to be all gonzo about. I'm fretful, but willing to let her come and sit around. Unofficial uncles are hereby authorized to metaphorically thump her if she appears to be behaving in a manner that would be unwise and I am not around to deliver said thumping myself.

Date: 2006-07-27 05:15 pm (UTC)I have overpriced Cafe Mocha breath (with chocolate syrup and whipped cream), thankyouverymuch. Sadly, the beverage is all gone now. I weep, and cast about for somebody to get me another Cafe Mocha fix. :)
Should I bring the chainmail?
Date: 2006-07-27 05:20 pm (UTC)I'm not sayin' nuthin' about nobody's matching bra and panties. Nuthin'.
Re: Should I bring the chainmail?
Date: 2006-07-27 05:28 pm (UTC)As for heavy fighting gear, I *did* bring my fencing jacket, but I think I'll stick with their loaner gear first. That way, I'll get an idea of what they consider appropriate before I start showing up with stuff.
Besides, I bet they'll want to set me up with a bunch of other drills before I get to suit up and get hit on. Er. Or something. But I'd be happy to keep that offer in mind...even if the shirt might very well cover me to my ankles!

Date: 2006-07-27 07:59 pm (UTC)I'm not sure if there will be loaner gear out there... Trevor used to bring some, but I'm not sure how much will fit, usually we have to fit LARGER than average people, not smaller.
I think I'm going to be out there too... not sure which kid is going where tonight but I know Diva loves to hang with Rhi. Sorry to hear Rowan is in, she was having a grand time last week. At least until you showed up and clubbed her to the ground. ::grin::
