Does anybody on this list, local to the KC area, have one of those nifty dusting things for cleaning lint out of the inside of one's dryer and vents? I've never lived anywhere long enough to need one, but the task clearly should be undertaken soonest. I understand these things aren't very expensive, but we're more broke than Jesus right now.

Kthx,
Your local Cancerian

AFAIK, the easy way to do this is to put the hose attachment on your vacuum cleaner, and run that through the vents. Also, check these out:

There's one sitting in my office that someone cleverly ordered from LTD or some other catalog sent in the name of the company, and then never claimed or paid for. I expect that you could have that one, but someone would want you to pay for it eventually.

That would be verrah clevair, if only I had a vacuum cleaner. :) Terribly useful stuff otherwise, though. Will have to investigate more!

You could borrow our vac. It has all sorts of attachments and doo-dads.

I was going to offer an old carbouy brush, but if the shop vac attachments don't fit, then a brush as thick as my arm wouldn't either.

When I did mine, I used an old baby bottle brush. I also took the top and back off so I could get to everything. A few shrouds were easy enough to take off with a screwdriver. But really the major thing that had the wife panicing was the smell of smoldering lint, and the only way I got to that was by pulling the drum out and scraping the hard-packed lint out from around the heating element. This isn't as daunting as it sounds, and despite all the other cluttery fluff everywhere else, it is the lint around the element that is most dangerous. The rest of it just degrades drying performance.
