ah, springtime

I am grateful not to have horrible trouble with allergies. Really, there are only a couple of weeks in the spring and a couple of weeks in the fall when I'm miserable.

Yesterday, I watched a tree bud out and bloom and start floofin pollen everywhere, just outside the office windows. Then I rode my bike home. By the time I got home, I *itched* everywhere. So I took a little bit of Benadryl. But I needed to stay awake for dinner and time with family. So I had a little bit of coffee. And then my heart rate went all wonky and I couldn't sleep. So I took a little more Bendadryl. Now I'm a zombie. Drinking coffee. Feeling itchy. With a skippety heart rate. Wanting a nap.

AWESOME. I did take some Claritin this morning, which will hopefully take the edge off. Because JEEZ. This could be a *long* couple of weeks.

Ugh. Poor thing. Coffee-drinking zombie with the itchies and heart palpitations = NOT FUN.

Today, I am a chemical romance. Except it's more of a love-hate thing. I'm glad I had these palpitations tested a few years ago -- my doctor calls them "peril-sensitive" -- and know that they're pretty harmless. It just wears me out, because it's like being flicked on the ear every 47 seconds or so. And the allergies won't last long. Just a weird little transit I hit twice every year.

Have you tried Zyrtec? Benadryl never gave me any relief, just zombified me. Zyrtec works a hell of a lot better for outdoor allergies and given I have severe allergies and take it year round, I really depend on it.

Good luck!

Unfortunately, I get awful headaches from Zyrtec, so I have to take Claritin (which is admittedly weaker). I think the progression of efficacy goes from Claritin on the low end, to Allegra, and then Zyrtec.

I just need it to be *enough* relief for a little while. Benadryl I'll take at night, which helps with allergies and palpitations.

Ditto the Zyrtec (I get the huge, generic version, bottle from Costco). *hug*

Also, now "Springtime for Hitler" is now in my head, thanks to your post title. =P
