saffronhare: (Bunzilla. (Go ahead. Laugh.))
This morning, I was listening to Dora the Explorer (which was on the TV in the living room) while I got ready. And it came to me that it's much funnier if you think of it as a metaphor for the immigration process.

Told you it was awful. Blame [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn...he told me to post it. ::snerfle::

Anyway, lots of work got done around the house yesterday. At one point, [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn stopped and asked me if we were going to do anything else with the day. I stopped for a moment, can of primer in hand, and blinked at him. Why would we want to do anything else? I asked. You know, he said, like something together. I blinked some more. But we *are* doing this together! Good sport, he was. much progress )<lj user="agrnmn" undertake for me) and then start on the second layer next week. But with the God Auction coming up I might be on crack. We'll see. Of course, the second coat will need to wait on the budget too -- we've got enough plaster to finish that first coat, but that'll be about it. Still, really excellent progress on some long-term projects. I'm so very happy.

Excerpt from my Free Will Horoscope this week: CANCER (June 21-July 22): ...The adventures you swore you would never have the courage to attempt are suddenly within your capacity. You can at least partially dissolve the one fear you've always believed would hobble you forever.

Hm. This is pretty timely of him, really. For my birthday every year, I try to do something that frightens me. I've got a full moon cycle in which to accomplish the task, but I have no idea yet what it might be this year. In recent years, I've been sort of a pansy about it and I feel a pull toward something Real. Monday's piercings don't count -- they were part of a separate bargain and weren't nearly terrifying enough. Thinking, thinking. I have a pretty unreasonable number of fears that hobble me in many ways. Maybe I'll just set up a dartboard.

Also, and. There was an odd moment when the dude at Irezumi's was giving me the aftercare pep talk when he said I should avoid licking these new piercings. Part of me paused and went, huh, when he went on to add that I should also avoid getting any bodily fluids on them. I must have given him a look, because he stopped in the middle of his spiel to say, right, you're not quite that kind of piercer, are you? I said no, carry on anyway, and managed to keep from giggling for the rest of it. I mean, really -- in my ears!?!?! Ew. Also, I should not go swimming in any ponds. Which is a great relief, let me tell you.

I have perhaps exceeded my daily allowance for commas now. Time to stop and get more work done. Productive morning. A bit slow. :) Must find more caffeine now.

Happy Birthday, Adam!
Perhaps somebody more cleverer than I will do a little animated and sparkly thing for you.
Hugs to you -- N
