saffronhare: (Buns of Steel)
The workday is shaping up well, I think. I was ambushed at 8:15 a.m. by an eager person who wanted to know if I'd received the email they sent over the weekend and made any progress on the project. I assured them that progress was underway, even without having read the email, but that I'd read it and incorporate relevant comments this morning.

Then, this same person emails us at 9:54 a.m. (it's timestamped, you konw) and calls a 10:00 a.m. meeting to check in on everyone's progress on this thing that is our top priority today.

I sat down in the meeting and politely informed this person that they had a choice: I could sit in the meeting and say I'm working on it...or I could leave the meeting and actually continue to work on it.

I left the meeting. And, right after I finish imagining I could strangle the next person who wants to "check in" with me on anything, I'll continue to work.

Grr.
