"Vengeful" I can see as negative. It's more about not being able to let go of a hurt or a wrong in a way that is more self-damaging than anything else. It's about wanting to hurt for the sake getting back or getting even, rather than exacting justice. The two at times might look the same, but the inward energy is very different for the person generating it.

Actually, I knew you were mostly kidding. It just got me to thinking about how the mindspace for vengeance is weird, compared to other in-your-face activities. I was going more for pontification than exposition there.
