Holy hurricane winds, Batman.

Just went outside to fetch something from my car. And this sea-witch smells salt water.

Raised my hackles, it did.
Wow.

Note: for those who don't know, I live in Kansas.

Really?
Must try to get outside sometime this afternoon.

A-yup.

I wasn't even trying to be all mystical or anything, just fetching a can of tuna from the car and thinking about sandwiches.

I just stood there for a minute, saying "no, REALLY? are you SURE?" to myself for a moment or two (with the Eddie Izzard accent even). No question about it.

I went outside to confirm, and ho-ly sheet. Yup, that's sea-smell, all right. Slightly swampy, even.

After being so untethered yesterday, I'm grateful for the confirmation. Yeah -- it was an absent-minded moment of thinking "oh, high tide" and then the crashing reality that I'm. In. Kansas.

Jeebus. Can't wait to see what our weather is going to be like in the next week or so...and the coming decade. Maybe we'll install a cistern when we're fixing the foundation and waterproofing the basement.

Holy shit, I can smell the dead fish and everything!

.
Oh, wait, that's the trash compactor.

::walks to other backroom door:: Yep, it's very faint, but definitely salty. In Kansas. That is so, entirely, wrong.

Very faint, but [livejournal.com profile] dragon_sword and I noticed it, too. More of an almost-taste than an actual smell. *moves into selkie mode*
