Princess Boredom's cold/flu got more complicated last night, with her cough triggering an asthma attack worse than we've seen in a few years at least. She and [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn are at the Urgent Care clinic for some intervention (the inhaler just wasn't doing enough for her). They've been gone a couple of hours and I haven't heard anything. In fairness, I didn't expect to hear anything -- I'm just a little frantic.

She's so pale and skinny and miserable -- and struggling to keep calm so she can breathe. I hate seeing her like this. Though I probably wouldn't want to tie up the phone with any "poor baby" calls, just whining here has been real helpful. As she starts to feel better (tonight, hopefully), a couple of cheery emails to her gmail account would be groovy, if you are so inclined. Her username is "whitedragonblade" (she chose it, not us).

I suspect [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn is even more strung out than I am right now. Catch up with you all later.

UPDATE @ 1445 hours: They're home with more prescriptions than...well, I don't know what. There's Advair, another inhaler, oral steroids and some antibiotics. She still can't quite rest -- too hopped up on albuterol, I guess -- but she's a bit less hunched over herself and is behaving much less like Desdemona of the Dead. Hopefully, we can get her to nap soon (and catch some rest ourselves!). She'll be home from school again tomorrow for sure. Thanks for the pep rally, guys.

I would attempt to soothe you with a platitude that it will all work out, but I know how useless that is when you worry about your kids.

How about this... she's a strong girl; and kids always seem to surprise us how quickly they bounce back from things.

Let us know what happens, please.

Glad to hear she's starting to recover. I (almost) remember what it was like to have nighttime asthma attacks as a kid, and it was patently No Fun™.

The good news is, treatment and recognition have gotten a lot better since then. The awful stuff I had to take them for maintenance of asthma has been replaced by much less noxious inhalers and pills. She'll be annoying the dogpiss out of you in no time, that's for sure.

How's that for a pep rally?

Ooh. Hopped up on Albuterol is right. It's like speed or something, and it's a horrible feeling. Hope you all get needed rest soon.

actually, she's probably hopped up from the oral steroids. If that's the case, there's a good chance she'll have a hard time getting to sleep. Steroids are funny critters. They make some people really 'up' the whole time they are one them. They make some people 'up' at first and then 'down' later. It can vary from one time to the next.
I'm glad she's doing better though!

I'm glad. . .

she is better. My thoughts are with all of you, I know the girl is a major pain when she is sick. So, hugs to the Princess, and calm, steady thoughts to both parents. Love you.

i know how she feels. i sure hope and pray the other's don't get this flu. it totally sucks. i have lost over 9 lbs myself, not that i didn't need to loose the weight but would be better to lose it in a normal way. can't breathe, just cough, cough, cough. ugh! it's awful!! i hope and pray nobody in my family gets this crap from me. would send out energy but i need to for myself to get well and and would be weak at best. so, i'll send out good thoughts. ::hugs::
