ouch and YAY
Saturday's yard sale to benefit the local BSA Troop was a rousing success. We raised close to $3K! By the time all the Craigslist items are sold and receipts/expenses are balanced out, I think we might top that number. Woohoo!
There were husband heroics for most of the weekend, particularly as *dozens* of families brough items over to be sorted/arranged during the day on Friday, and then as we had to throw tarps over everything before the storms rolled in.
Saturday was clear and bright and I got an epic sunburn. People at work keep asking me, "OMG, what did you DO!?!?" So that's super-professional. :)
Not much left our house, but hardly anything came IN, so I'm counting it a victory. Lots of people were delighted with their acquisitions. I still don't *like* yard sales, but I'll definitely sign up to host it again -- nothing quite like a few days of intense effort for such a marvelous payoff...and just once each year!
I especially loved the part where "fresh" volunteers arrived at the end of the day to finish all the packing and re-loading of things to be donated away, while I got to get blitzed on margaritas. LOVE THAT SHIT RIGHT THERE.

And the sunburn is 47 kinds of stupid. It's just that we started working on Saturday before it was particularly warm and sunny, so I didn't even *think* about sunscreen. It's pretty painful and extreme. I spent most of yesterday with a glaze of aloe gel all over my face and neck. It looked like...well, I looked gross.

As a weird little side benefit, the color of my face makes my eyes look all silvery grey, which I think is pretty darn cool.
