It appears that my portable palm-sized brain has died, or is in a serious electronic trance. I've checked all the wiring and everything appears to be plugged in. It just won't turn on when it's off the cradle, and it won't make that happy little chirp when I settle it into the cradle. It also won't turn on when it's in the cradle.

I am very sad. I am also grateful that I back up that information on my hard drive at least once a week.

After saying a few prayers (can't hurt), I'll go through the all-important "is it plugged in?" and "is it turned on?" trouble-shooting procedures once again.

BlackBerries are cute. But they're also $600 on up -- you know you're in trouble when you have to click through 11 screens to get some sort of pricing and they tout the $200 rebate first...

sniff. pout.

CrackBerries are awfully cute. But I'm no R.Martinez; I know that, speaking honestly, I don't use my $400 PDA (the Sharp Zaurus) for much more than I would get out of a $100 Palm. Maybe your situation is different... or maybe you'll just win the lottery.

My Sony Clie died last year about this time just the same way. I decided to be old fashioned and go back to paper. It works better for me...
