We're recalibrating activities for today, based on the goals of enjoying the day and boiling down to what's essential.

Already...

Talked to Princess Boredom about stewarding her energy to she could have lots of fun at the Bazaar tomorrow.

Called Cookie Exchange to offer regrets due to low energy level of recently sick child (also, no cookies yet, but that's beside the point -- woulda gotten some groovy ones at WF if necessary). Thank you for planting the idea in my brain last night, [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn.

Called Pappy to announce that we'll be coming over, but not deserting him with the little ones after all. We will instead bake cookies together and make a gigantic mess in Grandy's kitchen. It'll be grand fun. The countertops are marble; I'm sure they can take it.

Edit: Yes, this was a marvelously good time...especially when Grandy arrived mid-way through the process! We have a few dozen cookies, which we'll likely package up and walk around to the neighbors this afternoon, along with some cocoa mix. Princess Boredom was pleasant, but very low energy. Really glad we didn't try to go to the party.

Directed the little ones to dress themselves while I got the stinky sheets off my bed. They will be washed today...oh, yes, they will be.

Ignored the ultra-fine glitter Princess Sticky has distributed so enthusiastically across the bedroom floor. You've taught her well, [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants.

Later...

When I get home (probably about naptime?), I'll check in with [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants about final plans for Nine Fires table at the Bazaar...what's necessary to be ready...and look for my gigantic shipment of stuff from California. Then, I will begin packing the car.

Edit: The boxes from UPS have arrived! I'll get the little Princesses off to their naps (they're eating lunch now) and open them up to check what's inside. Whee!

I also need to bake a few loaves of cranberry bread for the Bazaar and prep the dry ingredients for cinnamon rolls (to be baked tomorrow morning, so they'll be soft and fresh for the Bazaar).

Edit: Need to bundle up some cookies for delivery and use naptime to mix up the dry ingredients for cinnamon muffins (I'm planning about four dozen). I think I'll do two loaves of cranberry bread now and then two after 8 p.m. That way, I'll have one for [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn's dad, since he requested one; one for us here at home; and two for the Kitchen Witch table.

Note to self: check ingredients list one more time, so you can ask [livejournal.com profile] zylch to bring home any necessary items from work.

I'll probably do a few chores around the house to keep our heads above water, but I won't let it wear me out. No, really. Here is what I've decided what I will not do.
.
.
.
those of you who tremble at housekeeping philosophy should run away now.
.
.
.
I will not wash/dry any laundry but bedsheets.
I will not wash any floors.
.
.
There. Anything else is fair game if, and only if, it pleases me to do it.

Also think about ways I might be useful in prepping for the Nine Fires stuff -- I am neither an artist nor a manager, but I can certainly dothings like score cards.

Speaking of which, did you already try one of these at work? The heavyweight ones look a bit more adjustable, but the lightweight ones have fancy edge cutters. Both can take perforating or scoring blades, too.

One of what? The link didn't show me a particular product, just a page of general-ness. Might be interesting to look at -- most of what's at work is industrial, and therefore in the production building. The stuff I have access to for "extracurricular activities" is only meant to serve as a stop-gap; most everything else is sent to the other building or outsourced.

Yes, I will need some help later this evening. Let me check in with [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants and see how we're going to priorize what's left to do and then we'll draft your help as needed. Thanks for volunteering.

I expect to be able to survey groceries here in a little bit -- we're home now (duh), but I still need to get the little ones off to their naps.

huh... the link worked fine when I tested it, but not now. How unfortunate. Go to OD's website and search for manufacturer "Carl"; they have rotary cutters/trimmers which have optional blade sets for scoring, pretty edges, etc.

Just let me know what you need. I will trade any reasonable service in the interests of Nine Fires for a backrub. Not that I wouldn't do it anyway, but that's what makes it a particularly nice gesture on your part.

Gods, I've seen that movie too many times.
