The Winter Holiday Lovefest Post

It has been suggested in several quarters that the best way to handle the encroaching season of gift-giving and generalized avarice (since everybody seems to be broke this year) is to trade favors, services, and homemade stuff. ...

Here's how you can play:

If you want me to do something for you, post it in the comments here, email me, or communicate it to me in some other way. If you want to join the exchange, post this post, or something resembling it, in your little corner of the internet. I make no promises, but I will do my best to fulfill all reasonable requests.

[On a personal note to non-breeding clan folk: the kids are pretty well off in terms of gifts, thanks to indulgent grandparent-types. Princess Boredom is likely to exchange gifts of her own invention with her buddies, but nobody is expected to provide gifts for our offspring.]

from [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants and perhaps the entire Topless Painting Team: a consultation and assistance with finishing the dining room and hallway painting. We're so close to being done, but stuck on finalizing some techniques and such. Help with solidifying vision and actually getting the thing finished would be marvelous.

from [livejournal.com profile] zylch: construction of that bobbin lacemaking pillow (materials to be provided)

from [livejournal.com profile] iron_clad: let's actually set a date to go shooting, dammit

from [livejournal.com profile] featherynscale: a list of 12 books I should endeavor to read over the next year

from [livejournal.com profile] fionnabhar: ibid.

from [livejournal.com profile] chaosdruid: a date for tea and doing lots o'nothing

from [livejournal.com profile] breathofgold: a pretend, but much nicer, episode of What Not to Wear for me and my wardrobe (no, I won't have $5,000 to spend)

More as I think of them. Happy Holidays!

Here's my request (which is very dull, and has no violence or nudity in it at all):

Could I borrow your sewing machine sometime this week?

Of course you can. Come steal it whenever you like. It's downstairs, on the not-really-a-pool-table.

My request

Let's actually set a time and sit down for that cup of tea we agreed on so many months ago.

Serendipity, baby. I was thinking of requesting the same of you! I'll have my people call your people.

Will you help me figure out how to work the zipper foot on my machine and teach me how to put in a zipper?

I'd be happy to embark on the Great Zipper Caper with you. However, please note that I've never used a zipper foot, nor have I ever even sewn a zipper onto an item of clothing. If it would please you, I will pretend to know what I'm doing. Of course, if I really have my act together, I'll somehow capture the knowledge and bring it to share with you.

I might be convinced to teach you how as part of my lace pillow experiment. Having done it at least a couple of times when I worked in the costume shop, I think I can figure it out again pretty quickly.
