Did it again!
Jun. 29th, 2011 10:46 amCompared to how difficult it was to get out of bed this morning, riding my bike to work was EASY. (Thanks for being sweet about it,
diermuid).
In my mind, I've divided the route into thirds (like ya do), which may or may not be proportional for the actual distance. There's the part between home and the pool, which includes the Bridge Challenge. Then there's the part from the pool to the TKD place, which is a very mellow stretch of wide sidewalk. And then the final leg is between the TKD place and my office building, which contains two crossings of larger streets with no stoplight or crosswalk (really not awful hazards...just junctures where I'll usually get off the bike to wait for a safe moment to cross).
Things I am learning:
Next step: Making sure I ride twice/week (or more) instead of just the once. The vagaries of weather reporting make it difficult, but I think I'll just have to make up my mind each morning when I look out the window.
UPDATE: Heat advisory in effect this afternoon/evening. AWESOME. Good thing I don't have to worry about how sweaty I'll be when I get home!

Things I am learning:
- I am glad to have a few outrageously orange t-shirts to wear for visibility.
- My sit-bones hurt a lot less as I've been biking more frequently.
- I enjoy telling *everybody* that I rode my bike, if they give me half a chance. It sort of becomes my default -- possibly too chirpy -- answer for the person who casually asks, "How are you today?"
