...to move 80% of a household two file boxes at a time. That's the way I'm starting, anyway. With each round trip to Chez MacDonald costing a couple of gallons of gas, I figure I need to make the most of resources and overall effort by bringing a few items with me every time.

For those military brats (or frequent relocators) among you, this is the advance-work step of concentrating on household goods I mostly won't need for the next 30 days (give or take). In my geeky way, I'm following the FlyLady zones for each week. So I'm transporting kitchen items right now...like muffin tins. SRSLY. I like to think I might bake muffins between now and June 1st, but NO. I most likely will not. (Now, watch us have a Muffin Emergency. Gah.)

I did so much editing of household goods with the divorce, house sale, and move to my apartment that there really isn't much to be offloaded. It's all still relatively uncluttered and organized. Which is nice, because I'd much rather devote my energy to managing the emotional reality shifts of this move than get bogged down in difficult physical realities.

I store things in boxes, bins, etc. makes for easier moving. We've been pretty fortunate to stay at Whidbey for now three tours.

*hugs*

Yup. Rubbermaid bins can be a godsend, especially the clear ones.

On my last move, [livejournal.com profile] diermuid noticed that every single box I packed was of a size and weight that I could carry it myself. I suppose that says something about my state of mind at the time, or in general. :)

With the exception of boxes of books, I do the same. What with Josh's schedule, I typically end up with 95% of the work of moving.

Rubbermaid is god.

Just so. :)

And I really do try to be a good person for folks to help, if that makes any sense. It's just good planning to make sure the boxes are labeled and not unreasonably heavy, so it's simple for people to lend a hand as they're able. Sofas, on the other hand, require some thuggery.
