Gentle readers, chaucerhathblog has posted a Lament for Sir William. It's fucking brilliant -- so much more brilliant than A Knight's Tale,* which it references (a lot) in memorializing Heath Ledger.

In praise of my brother, who does not read or have LJ.

For he has generously sponsored a year of NetFlix for me and the girls! He said it was a Valentine's gift for us, even though we forgot his birthday.* We get two DVDs per month. ::bounce, bounce::

In a move which should surprise nobody, I've stocked up the first ten slots in my queue with BSG. The miniseries is up first (of course) followed by the seasons in sequence, interspersed with stuff like The Bourne Ultimatum and The Mists of Avalon.

Teh kulchur. I has it.

Heads Up: Sometime this summer, for my birthday, I'm thinking of hosting a Jason Statham Film Festival. Or maybe a Will Ferrell Film Festival. (Sorta depends on whether I'm ovulating at the time it crosses my mind. But that's TMI and this is a public post.) Mark your calendars or schedule your own vacations accordingly.

*I didn't forget his birthday. I forgot to CALL. There's a difference. Fortunately, my brother and I share this habit, so nobody gets bent out of shape over it (if we even notice it at all).

This got to be astonishingly sentimental. For me, anyway.

Bit of an entertainment, from jackbabalon23 by way of featherynscale. This is a movie game. Here's how it works:


1. Pick 15 of your favorite movies.[Here, I just went with quotes I love from movies I love. No good at ranking my favorites, not me.]
2. Go to IMDb (or Wikiquote) and find a quote from each movie. (or in some cases, just remember them.)
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Strike it out Italicize it when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it correctly and the name of the movie.
5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDb/Wikiquote search functions.
6. I'm stealing jackbabalon23's rule, too -- no more than two correct per person, please. I know some of you are encyclopedic in your knowledge of dumb movie lines.

( Many of these have also made it into my Guiding Principles. Heh. But guessing which ones those are is not part of this game. )
