Pimping Day

Well, we're about as set as we're gonna be for today's work. The plan held solid last night, and
kittenpants and I were able to gather/prepare/pack everything we figured on needing and still toddle off to sleep by about 12:30 a.m. The car will be pulling out of the driveway within about an hour (showers are happening now), and we'll be spending the day visiting the lovely people who (we hope) will be selling our greeting cards around town. Stories later.
::fingers crossed::
UPDATE: Back home now. It went very well, I think -- we have a deposit to make this evening! I bet
kittenpants will have more entertaining stories than I could tell, but it was very encouraging that everyone we spoke with was instantly impressed with the quality and design of the cards. There was no question that the cards were appropriate for the market, and that the merchants definitely wanted to have them. Within a minute, we were talking wholesale and retail cost and laying out options for quantities. Two out of four purchased some of our stock and provided some useful advice/perspectives on the product...one is out of town and we'll need to call for an appointment (but the person we talked to was impressed and told us to point up the "local artist" angle)...the fourth simply may not be a good match for us. No tears, a few butterflies, and lots of squee.
We'll be doing a postcard within the next week or so to introduce the new winter card, publicize GC's Winter Bazaar, and mention the KC-area places where local folks can get cards without paying for shipping with online orders. There are maybe three or four other places we want to approach still, but we're starting to shift into gear for the Bazaar now.
First quarter of 2006 = expansion to points west and perhaps north. If you live in Lawrence, Topeka, or a bit north of KC and happen to know of places we ought to be contacting, please let us know.
Second quarter of 2006 = massive prep for the UUA General Assembly, where we intend to have a booth.
Taking over the world any day now, man. :)
